How it Works

The Candela GentleMax Pro uses advanced laser technology to target unwanted pigmentation without damaging the surrounding skin. The laser is specifically absorbed by melanin, the pigment responsible for dark spots, freckles, and sun damage. When the laser is applied to the skin, it delivers short bursts of energy that break down excess melanin into tiny particles. Over the next 7-14 days, the pigment darkens, crusts, and flakes off, revealing clearer, more even-toned skin underneath. The body’s natural processes continue to clear remaining pigment over the following weeks to months.

This treatment is effective for sunspots, age spots, freckles, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, helping to restore a brighter, more even complexion.

What Happens During the Procedure?

Your skin will be cleansed, and protective eyewear will be provided. The Candela GentleMax Pro laser delivers quick pulses of light to the targeted pigmentation. You may feel a warm, snapping sensation, similar to a rubber band flick. The built-in cooling spray helps minimize discomfort. The session lasts a few minutes to half an hour, depending on the treatment area. Afterward, the skin may appear red or slightly darker, which is normal as the pigment starts to break down.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL i NEED?

The number of sessions varies based on pigment depth, type, and skin response. Most people see results after 1-3 treatments, spaced 4-6 weeks apart. Stubborn or deeper pigmentation may need additional sessions.

PREPARING FOR YOUR TREATMENT

To get the best results and minimize any risks, follow these simple steps before your laser treatment:

Avoid sun exposure & tanning – Stay out of direct sunlight and skip self-tanners for at least 2-4 weeks before your appointment.
Skip active skincare – Stop using retinoids, AHAs/BHAs, Vitamin C and exfoliating products 5-7 days before treatment.
No Recent Skin Treatments – Avoid chemical peels, microneedling, or other resurfacing treatments at least 2 weeks before your laser session.
Come with clean skin – No makeup, lotion, or skincare products on the area being treated.
